Every new mom I meet has a theory about their diapers. Most of the moms I know, including myself, have shown a serious preference for Pampers Swaddlers. After the teeny tiny baby stage is over, I stuck with the Pampers Cruisers over BabyDry, but after the new stretchy waistbands on the BabyDry came out, I was converted to a full-time user. There's just something about the Huggies that make me feel like there's not enough coverage. I was shocked when a mom-friend switched her 2-year-olds to Huggies diapers based on cost alone. She is happy enough not to regret the change.
One of the major points of contention is finding the best cost per case. I have found that different retailers carry diapers in different size cases so it is not accurate to compare case cost alone. You must do the math and figure out the cost per diaper. The best deal I've found is getting a case at Babies R Us or Toys R Us when using the $5 off coupons that come out occasionally. What is also good to know, is that one coupon can be used to get $5 off on multiple cases of diapers. That way, you can stock up and get a few at a time to last you until the next coupons come out.
One of the best calls you can make is to 1-800-869-7787 and press option 6 to get added to the mailing list. This will get you some really valuable coupons throughout the year for shopping in the store and sometimes online.
If you're going to go for Pampers, you can use the codes inside the packages to get Pampers Points. These points can be used to get some cute toys. You just pay the shipping. It's not a bad deal if you're buying the diapers anyway. And if you are get bent out of shape about paying shipping, just pretend you're buying the toy and getting a really low price. Also, if you are the charitable type, you can "donate" your points toward a toy drive in the winter time. Not a bad thing to do, either.
Have you heard...?
As a relatively new mom, I am always looking for new ideas and other mommy "intel". Thought others might be in search of the same and wanted to post it somewhere. My parenting "style" does not fall into a neat little category so the views presented here will probably have a little for everyone. Hope you hear it first from me! :-)
